  • Up to 56 days credit – if you clear your balance in full and on the stipulated date each month you’ll receive up to 56 days interest free credit.
  • No annual fee – None of Natwest’s (or RBS’s) mainstream cards carry an annual fee (except the NatWest/RBS Black Card £250).
  • Comprehensive protection against identity theft, online threats, and fraud.
  • Online account management with email and text alert service (enabling you to receive a text message to confirm any changes to your account set-up or when the credit card system spots what it thinks maybe a suspicious transaction).
  • Automatic discount of 1% on your APR for holders of Natwest Advantage Gold current accounts (this account costs £12.95 per month) or equivalent RBS Royalties account (£6.95 per month).
  • All Natwest & RBS cards feature Card Protection Plus (some cards may require you to pay a small fee to get all of the benefits) which protects registered cards if they are lost or stolen, and also provides emergency cash, unauthorised transaction cover and cover for unauthorised use of your mobile phone.

*NatWest and RBS credit cards can’t receive balance transfers from credit cards issued by banks or brands within the RBS Group. Promotional or interest rate offers maybe withdrawn if you miss payments or don’t operate your credit card within its credit limit and its Terms and Conditions.

Most NatWest credit cards have an equivalent RBS product but these options may vary slightly so check the latest details before you apply.

Balance transfer promotional offers (where featured) can be carried out up to a maximum of 95% of the credit limit of the card.

In summary:-

NatWest and RBS credit card deals are always at or near the top of our credit card comparison tables. The best NatWest or RBS card for you will depend on your circumstances, but NatWest and RBS cards make good sense if you’re an existing customer with an account that qualifies for the 1% APR discount.

 Natwest and RBS Corporate information

National Westminster Bank Plc, commonly known as NatWest, is the largest retail and commercial bank in the United Kingdom and has been part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc (RBS) since 2000. The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is ranked as the second largest bank in the world by assets.

In the 2007/2008 financial crisis HM Government took a 58% stake in the RBS Group (of which NatWest is a part) in a bid to recapitalise the company.

The Treasury subscribed to £5bn in preference shares and underwrote the issuance of a further £15bn of new ordinary shares which were offered to RBS shareholders and new institutional investors at the fixed price of 65.5p.

Following discussions and an agreement with the European Commission last summer (as part of the State Aid requirements) RBS has had to sell 311 Royal Bank branded branches, plus 7 NatWest branches along with the relevant customers to Santander UK.
